Batik Care

BATIK CARE

  • Wash separately do not mix with other clothing.
  • It is best to Hand-wash all Batik Fabric. Do not use washing machine first time washing.  This will extend life of batik fabric, but it will keep the colours intact.
  • Gentle laundry detergent is to be used.
  • No excessive squeezing of fabric.
  • Avoid direct sunlight & dusts
  • Bleeding is common in Batik as it is traditionally made adopting wax-resist technique, washing therefore removes excess dye from fabric. Bleeding may occur in a couple of washes.
  • Do not bleach or use any washing chemicals.
  • Ironing should only be on a low or medium heat setting if they become wrinkled. Do not use a garment steamer or steam setting when ironing, because it may distort the fabric. Place thin pieces of cotton cloth on both sides of the batik fabric while ironing. This offers additional protection against fabric distortion.
  • Tips: Should you stain your Batik Fabric. To remove stains, use hot water with Dish Washing Liquid, keep on washing in hot water. Please exercise caution when washing with hot water with using proper apparatus.
